Aerial, cirque and fire performers in Calgary

Shaw Entertainment arranges aerialists, cirque-style acts and fire performers on request for galas, corporate events and festivals in Calgary and across Canada. These acts depend on the venue, so we start with the room.

Some acts change how a room looks.

An aerialist above the reception or a fire performer on the terrace gives guests something they stop for, and something they photograph.

Above, on the floor, and outside

Above the room
Aerial silks and hoop, as atmosphere through a reception or as one featured piece. They need a rigging point or a freestanding rig, and the height to use it.
On the floor
Acrobats, hand balancers and contortion. A small footprint, performed as a featured spot or in short sets among the guests, like the roving acts that work a reception.
Fire and light
Fire is usually an outdoor act and always needs the venue's permission. Where flame is not possible, LED and glow performers give a similar effect indoors.

What to tell us

Four things let us match the act to the event. If you don't know one of them yet, say so and we will work with what you have. Booking more than one act? See how we plan the entertainment around your agenda.

The room
Ceiling height, floor space and whether the venue has rigging points. For fire: whether there is an outdoor area.
The venue's rules
Ask the venue early about rigging and open flame. Nothing can be confirmed until they have answered.
Guest count
And where guests will be standing or sitting, so the act is placed where people can see it.
The programme
Atmosphere through the reception, or one featured piece with the lights down.

What affects the cost of an aerial, cirque or fire act?

The kind of act, the number of performers, how long they perform, the date and the season, travel, and the staging the act needs, such as a rigging point or a freestanding rig. Tell us the venue and what you picture, and we will come back with a quote.

Questions people ask

Can an aerial act work in our venue?
It depends on the ceiling height and on whether the venue has a rigging point or room for a freestanding rig. Send us the venue name and we will ask the questions that decide it.
Can fire performers work indoors?
Usually not. Fire is generally an outdoor act and needs the venue's permission either way. If flame is not possible, ask us about LED and glow performers. Outdoors, it suits a festival or a summer celebration.
Is it a show, or does it run in the background?
Either. An aerialist can perform quietly above a reception as part of the atmosphere, or the room can stop for one featured piece. Both suit a gala or a fundraiser. Tell us which you picture.
How far ahead should we ask?
Early. These acts depend on the venue's approval and on equipment, so the conversation with the venue has to happen before anything is confirmed.
Do you keep aerial and cirque performers on a roster?
No. Aerial, cirque and fire acts are arranged on request, like all of our specialty entertainment. Tell us what you have in mind and we will look for the right performer, and find out who is free for your date.
