Interactive and roving entertainment in Calgary
Shaw Entertainment arranges roving performers and interactive entertainment on request for receptions, corporate events, festivals and private parties in Calgary and across Canada. These acts move through the crowd or invite guests to take part.

Not every act needs a stage.
Roving performers and hands-on stations meet guests where they are standing, which is why they work so well at receptions, launches and outdoor days.
In the crowd, not on the stage
- Roving performers
- Stilt walkers, living statues, characters and roaming musicians, moving through a reception. They give people something to talk about before they have found their table.
- Artists at work
- Caricature artists and live painters. Guests watch something being made, and some of them take it home.
- Things guests do
- Photo booths, game shows, casino tables played for fun, a dance performance that ends with a lesson. People join in when they are ready.

What to tell us
Four things let us match the act to the event. If you don't know one of them yet, say so and we will work with what you have. Booking more than one act? See how we plan the entertainment around your agenda.
- The space
- A floor plan helps. Roving acts need room to move and stations need a patch of floor out of the main traffic.
- Guest count
- It decides how many performers it takes for everyone to meet one.
- The theme
- If there is one, tell us early. Costumes and characters take time to arrange.
- The programme
- A reception, with guests on their feet, suits these acts more than a seated meal does.
What affects the cost of roving and interactive acts?
The number of performers or stations, how long they work the room, the date and the season, travel, and anything the act needs on site, such as floor space or power. Tell us the guest count and the space and we will come back with a quote.
Questions people ask
- How many roving performers do we need?
- It depends on the guest count and how spread out the space is. Tell us both and we will suggest a number, so guests meet a performer without the room feeling crowded with them. For a festival or a street event, tell us how large the site is as well.
- Do roving acts work at a seated dinner?
- They suit a reception, when guests are on their feet, more than a seated meal. Once guests sit down, a table-to-table act such as close-up magic works better.
- Can the act match our theme?
- Often. Tell us the theme early, because costumes and characters take time to arrange. For a Stampede party, ask us about trick ropers and western acts.
- What space does an interactive station need?
- A patch of floor out of the main traffic, and usually power. Send us the layout and we will check what each idea needs.
- Do you keep roving performers on a roster?
- No. Roving and interactive acts are arranged on request, like all of our specialty entertainment. Tell us what you have in mind and we will look for the right performer, and find out who is free for your date.
